Brianne: "It's hard to know what Clay is angry about."
Margaret: "Even full of people, the house feels so empty without Da."
Brianne: "You know what Clay would say? You and Ernie can't have kids, and now you want to steal mine."
Lily: "I want to talk to the judge."
Margaret: "I keep thinking that if I told you sooner, that if you had a mother to come to, that you wouldn't be here."
Margaret: "You don't get into trouble unless you're with trouble."
Brianne: "You know you never understood him."
Margaret: "No, you don't understand. And now someone's dead because of it."
Brianne: "Oh... guess we're orphans now."
Margaret: "We still have each other."
Brianne: "Margaret, do you think that Daddy's death is my fault?"
Margaret: "Oh, no. It wasn't anyone's fault. He had a stroke. It was his time."
Margaret: "I'm not trying to steal her. I... I'm not trying to replace you. I... I only wanted to take care of her because I failed you so badly."
Brianne: "Guess what? My daughters not your penance."
Ernie: "Are you sure?"
Margaret: "Sweetie, if you talk to her, shes gonna ask you lots of questions about Mommy and Daddy. Things that might be scary to talk about. You sure you want to do that?"
Lily: "Will Daddy be mad at me?"
Ernie: "Well, if you tell the truth, I think your Daddy will be really proud of you."
Margaret: "Oh, Ernie. Come on, we have to be honest too. No one knows how your Daddy will feel about it, sweetie."
Lily: "If I talk to the judge, will it help Mommy get a new trial?"
Margaret: "It might."
Lily: "I want Mommy to come home."
Brianne: "I think being here has saved my life. Without prison, sooner or later Clay would have killed me or Lily. I came into this big scary place and I survived. Now I know I can survive anything."
Margaret: "All on your own."
